What exactly is in coolant anyway?
Alcohol of some sort and dies and lube.
What else?
I have taken to sitting it in the shed with a screen or such on top of the bucket.
come back in a few months or longer and "poof" it is gone!
Not sure what all evaporates off, but it has to be better the letting some critter digest it?

My understanding is that the only hazard is ingestion by a critter or child. Supposedly it has a sweet taste, but I wouldn't personally know.

Coolant has Ethelyn Glycol in it, which is a poison but also provides the temperature adjustment (Raising the amount of tolerable heat and lowering the freezing point)
