I'm thinking of replacing my engine in my 1996 with a Stroker motor.
I'm going to be pulling a 2500 lbs pop-up trailer and I thought that
would be a good up grade.. I have heard that they pump out around
300hps.and the added torque would help my pulling.

I have been thinking about doing this to my Jeep, and found that there
are a lot of options when it comes to stroker kits for the 4.0 Jeep
six. The article at this link is AWESOME! It talks about all the parts,
combinations and different avenues you can take when it comes to
stroking a Jeep engine (everything from the 4.5L "Poor man's" simple
stroker, all the way up to a 5.0L "very high-buck" stroker with 328 HP).
From what I have read on the 'net, Hesco is one of the best places to
buy engines or parts for the Jeep 4.0. They make a couple different
stroker kits (and you can buy crate engines from them too). Check them
out at...
If you are looking for a drop-in replacement, check out the 230 HP 4.0,
or th3 260 HP 4.6 from Golen Engine Services
You can also just Google "Jeep stroker engines" and a bunch of stuff
will come up.

i think a more realistic expectation for HP output would be more like
260. the only way you'd get to 300 horses is with forced induction.
there is a strokers group on yahoo that has great information for
building these motors. also lots of info on naxja. great info here at
dino's site http://www.angelfire.com/my/fan/stroker.html
Some things just can't be duplicated without alcohol!

I looked at this site and the way they get these figures is gross HP, not net. They figure 20% reduction so they are assuming 220 base gross HP to start with. Lower that 300 by 20% and you get 240 HP without any other mods such as chips etc.
