I have a 1988 Cherokee and need to replace the passenger door side
mirror. Where is the most reasonable place to order this from?

Try www.4wd.com They have warehouses nation wide and are hooked up now with Four Wheel Parts Wholesalers. Big outfit now.

Given the fact your rig is 20 years old, I would think scoring one
at the stealership would cost a bunch (have you checked them out?).
Your only alternatives are the aftermarket OEM folks who sell
replacement factory parts. My experience with them (I have an '85 S10
I've been trying to get a decent set of mirrors for) is that the
parts are of generally poor quality ...especially the convex right
side mirrors (the optics are so poor they are more like
miniature "Fun House" mirrors). The plastic is hard and cheap and I
doubt seriously they will last long out in the sun. Most are made in
Taiwan or China and possibly India ...if you think China produces
some crap you should experience the "Made in India" label
The other alternative, for a real original part, is local and online
salvage yards. And this might be the best as the part will be much
better quality than any aftermarket OEM part (even after suffering
the ravages of the salvage yard) and it will already have a good
weathered patina on it so as to better match your existing mirror.
