I have a 96 jeep cherokee. I have changed the coil, plugs, rot.
button, crank sensor, temp. sensor and it will will not run. It starts
but then dies. It acts like it is not getting fuel but the filter is
only 7000 miles old. I am at a loss. Please help.

You have to test to see what the engine is not getting.
FUEL
SPARK
COMPRESSION
hook a gauge up to the fuel rail
hook a spark tester to one of the spark plug wires
Watch and see what happens!
Might even be that the distributor is at fault and it is no longer timed.
Check out my Jeep Cherokee

is it running at all or dying immediately. mine died immediately and it turned out to be the security system killing it. might want to check that too. had to have mine reset at the dealer.

we changed the distributor also - it is getting spark - it will start
but then it just dies - it will run for about 3-5 seconds.

Lets hope not but I went through just about everything under the hood
on my 96 and wound up replacing the neutral safety switch.
There is an article floating around on cleaning this expensive little
bugger.
Wish I had found it before replacing mine. : (

Put a fuel pressure gage on it and monitor the pressure when this happens. Then get back to us

If it starts, then dies, it could be due to the anti-theft system
thinking the vehicle is being stolen (if your Jeep has that option).
