Shock install on 96' cherokee sport

Hello, just got a set of RoughCountry Nitrogen front shocks for my Jeep, I plan on installing them tomorrow AM, I have a few ??'s about the wire that is keeping the shock from extending. When I get the bottom bolts on and get the top of the shock lined up, I cut the wire right? Well, what happens to the wire that is still spun around the top of the shock, now pressed up against the rubber grommet and washer?? I've done quite a few things to my Jeep, but this is the first for me switching out the shocks. Thank you

cut the wire on one side of the loop at the top not on the single strand in the middle.

Generally you want to put the bottom in first and then cut the wire while lining it up with the hole it will end up in.
