Re: Leaf spring ?'s

My RE 4.5 leaf springs are now shaped like an "S".  I think it happened when the brakes exploded and locked up.  They have to be replaced!  Any suggestions?  Should I buy replacement RE's and hope it was the brakes that caused the problem or go with something else?  I've been regretting not going a bit higher originally.  If I decide to go a bit higher what parts will I need other than front and rear springs?  Probably control arms and drop bracket and mabe shocks.  I need to decide before I rebuild the brakes because it'll just be easier in the long run.

Re: Leaf spring ?'s

4.5 with a 1.5 shackle is ideal in my opinion.

Those RE leafs are decent, but if you put lots of time on them they
wear out faster than higher priced options like Nationals.

Re: Leaf spring ?'s

Anybody have any opinions on the DPGOffroad Tailgunner 5" springs he's
selling?

If the pic is accurate, they are 7 leaves.

Re: Leaf spring ?'s

I started out with Rusty's leaves in the late 90's. They were awesome off-road out of the box for crawling. They flexed like crazy. But all good things must come to an end. They were TOO soft.  So they sagged 2" in about a year, and the S curved in another year.

So I went to Skyjacker leaves. They too wound up sagging about an 1.5" pretty quickly. But they are stiff as heck and limited my travel. 5 years later they finally loosened up and flex pretty good. The bottom leaf isn't clamped and thus turns sideways all the time. I've been thinking of going RE.
